Windstorm Impact Reduction Plan
Public Law 108-360, Title II, known as the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Act of 2004, was signed into law by President Bush on October 25, 2004. This law seeks to measurably reduce the loss of life and property from windstorms. The law states that, No later than 90 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Director of the President?s Office of Science and Technology Policy shall establish an Interagency Working Group consisting of representatives of the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and other Federal agencies as appropriate. The Interagency Working Group will be responsible for the planning, management, and coordination of the Program, including budget coordination. The Act further stipulates that not later than one year after the date of enactment the Interagency Working Group shall develop and transmit to Congress an implementation plan for achieving the objectives of this Program. This report document is that plan.
