Senior Research Scientist The Research Division of FM Global is seeking resourceful knowledge-developers and problem-solvers with strong technical and communication skills to plan and conduct basic and applied research in support of our engineering, risk management, and loss prevention needs.
Position requires a Ph.D. degree, significant research record related to structural mechanics and dynamics, with emphasis on wind response and vulnerability functions for structural and non-structural components; solid background in CFD, and/or finite element modeling of structural and mechanical systems; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A solid background in probability and statistics, proven technical programming, modeling experience and parallel computing, and knowledge of model physics, principles, setup, calibration, validation and sound analysis practices are highly desired. Senior applicants must have demonstrated project management abilities. The job title and compensation depend on qualifications and experience.
