Wind Engineering Related Software Resources

Many of the evaluations of wind characteristics, wind loadings on structures, designing to resist wind and other wind engineering related activities require calculations and manipulation of information that can be either/or difficult or tedious. Fortunately an increasing amount of software is becoming available to assist in carrying out calculations and analysis. This page is intended to provide assistance in locating software resources for wind engineering analysis and design. The listing of these software resources does not constitute an endorsement by AAWE as AAWE has not had the mechanism or been offered the opportunity to carry out program evaluations in many cases. Thus the listing is provided as a public service and it is the responsibility of a potential user to verify a programs suitability for a particular application.

• Glass Analysis & Design Program - Design of glass for wind loads in accordance with current ASTM Standards and in compliance with the new International Building Code.
• Evaluation of Wind Loads using ASCE A7-98 & 2002 - Calculation of wind loading using the ASCE A7-98 & 2002 wind loading standard.
• Wood Structure Design - Software for design of low-rise wood structures including gravity, wind and seismic. Current version includes shear wall design. Current release includes ASCE A7-98 wind loads.
